Late 1989 two friends met for lunch and a higher standard was born.

Knight-Lee DJ's opened its doors in 1990 with Tony Knight and Ron Lee in Clinton, Iowa.   Ron was a musician with a sound system collecting dust, and Tony could speak in front of any crowd and had an extensive music library.  Together they created something special and quickly Knight-Lee DJ's became one of eastern Iowa's most respected wedding disc jockeys.  Many people still ask about that old green van they used to move the system. Cary, (Tony's youngest brother)  often attended weddings helping move equipment and covering when the DJ's were busy.

In 1994, Ron decided to pursue a career opportunity and sold his half of the company to Tony.  At that time, the name changed to Knight-Life DJ Service.

In 1996, Cary graduated from Iowa State and moved out of state; no longer available to help Tony with events.

In 1998, Tony was able to realize a dream having part ownership in a steak restaurant.  Frank was brought on board to help with those days in which Tony could not get away from his new responsibilities.  

In 2002, Cary moved back to Iowa and opened Knight-Life Productions for the Des Moines area.  Tony left the restaurant and started doing bookings full time.  

In 2003, The Des Moines office, overwhelmed with referrals, decided to start a second system.  

In 2005, Knight-Life turns fifteen (15) years old!  Fifteen years without missing a beat, or wedding, for that part.  It is important for us to note to you that we remain small for better quality.  We started as a wedding DJ and most of what we do are weddings.  Ask around and you will find that 95% of our business is referral based.  We are well respected among event centers and other wedding professionals.  We may not be Iowa's most requested, because we do not do the volume others do, but we are among Iowa's most respected!  We look forward to working with you, treating you with the respect and professionalism you deserve.

In 2006, Knight-Life Des Moines Adds Greg & Melissa Schenck (RAGBRAI's Team Diego DJ's) To the company and expands the Des Moines Market to three systems.

In 2007, Joe Knight decides to open offices in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin servicing areas from Chicago to Milwaukee!  Tony Knight formally expands to the Quad Cities and Cary Knight expands to Omaha!

We also service all types of events such as school functions like Proms, as well as Rodeos, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, Family Reunions, Picnics, Holiday Parties, Senior Dances, 50-60’s Dances, Teen Dances & PA Services.

Our presence at your occasion is considered an invitation that we take very seriously.  We feel that you rent the equipment and hire the personality while keeping the spotlight where it counts...On You!

Knight-Life "Music with Personality"

Our music has been converted over the years to a fully 100% digital format.  No more tapes or records!  We play compact discs, MP3 and dedicated computer driven systems.  Our music collection contains all the hot hits from the 1920’s to current day!  That’s a diverse and large selection of almost 30,000 songs! 

Much of our music comes from promotional only companies, the same that radio stations receive and are not available to the general public.  Radio edited versions make songs safe to play for all ages.  Check out the online music database and search for you favorite songs!

Our light show contains almost 30 lights and effects.  These are all controlled by the latest technology in mobile stage lighting.  The light show is optional, but included in the pricing.

Knight-Life has put together one of the most versatile and best sounding systems around.  We use the highest quality speakers and amplifiers.  The sound is filtered through and maximized which enhances and clarifies the music and vocals.  This is not a home stereo system but rather a professional P.A. system built around quality of sound.  Each system cost over $10,000.00 each!   

We want our customers to understand that if we are playing music from a computer there is a professional quality CD/MP3 player ready at all times, not a portable style Discman. Our superior system can play “behind the scenes” dinner music all the way up to the base thumping sound needed to fill a gymnasium… your choice.  We have the power for outdoor events, too!  Quality counts and that is what we deliver!

We do not hold dates.  Your reservation is not booked until Knight-Life Mobile DJ Service has received a booking fee and a signed contract.

Special consideration and pricing will be made for school events during non-peak times and dates.

Reservations made less than 30 days prior to the event will be required to pay in full 10 days before the event.
